What motivates a lot of my fiction is science and the scientific process itself; I’m interested in that interaction between the made-up and the real worlds. I’ve given various talks about this at various conferences and I’ve also published some articles. Every now and then I post a blog.
One of my articles – about European astronomers working in Chile during the Pinochet regime – was first published in the New York Times and can now be found in the Best American Science and Nature Writing 2014 anthology.
I write book reviews of both fiction and non-fiction.
And I’ve been on the radio, talking about this and that.
